Inside the bags, they found the untaxed cigarettes.
The two men involved, both from Singapore aged 23 and 29 were arrested, along with the 39-year-old Malaysian truck driver and another Singaporean, 23, who was keeping watch.
The driver had brought the cigarettes from Malaysia.
It was revealed that the two men moving the cigarettes were hired through a social messaging platform by an unknown person.
Singapore Customs seized the cigarettes, van, truck, and fuel tank.
They warned that buying, selling, possessing, or delivering untaxed goods are serious offences under Singapore law.
Offenders may face consequences such as heavy fines, jail time up to six years, or both.
They also mentioned that vehicles used in illegal activities could be confiscated.
The public was encouraged to report smuggling activities to Singapore Customs.
