Muhammad Syafie Ismail, 42, faced charges related to a tragic accident in Tampines.

Among the charges are failing to stop after the accident and disregarding a red traffic light.

The collision involved multiple vehicles, including cars, a van, and a minibus, at the junction of Tampines Avenue 1 and Tampines Avenue 4.

Tragically, two individuals aged 17 and 58 lost their lives, and six others, including Syafie, were injured and hospitalized.

Syafie was arrested after being discharged from the hospital, and his driving license has been suspended.

The court has imposed a bail requirement of $30,000 for Syafie, along with electronic monitoring as a precautionary measure.

The severity of the charges has raised concerns about the possibility of him attempting to flee.

Syafie is scheduled to appear for a pre-trial conference on June 7.
