A canned sardines was discovered to have harmful parasites in Malaysia!!

A large shipment of canned sardines from China, weighing over 16 tonnes, was discovered to have harmful parasites in Malaysia.

These parasites, known as anisakis worms, can cause sickness if consumed, said the
Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Department.

The sardines were brought in through Singapore without proper permits.

Malaysian authorities seized the sardines at a checkpoint in Johor Bahru.

The 30-year-old lorry driver involved was investigated by the officials.

It’s uncertain if these sardines were sold in Singapore.

Importing items with pests or contaminants in Malaysia can result in significant penalties up to RM100,000, jailed for up to six years, or both.
