The fire started at the New Born Baby Care hospital in the Vivek Vihar area, likely due to an explosion in an oxygen cylinder.

When the fire broke out, bystanders quickly noticed the flames and rushed in to rescue the 12 babies in the hospital.

Despite their efforts, 6 of the infants did not survive.

Authorities dispatched 14 fire trucks to the scene, but the fire spread too quickly.

Indian Prime Minister expressed deep sorrow over the incident.

Delhi’s Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal described the situation as heartbreaking.

He assured that those responsible for any negligence would be held accountable.

Authorities are investigating the hospital fire to determine the exact cause.

Legal action will be taken against the hospital owner, said the officials.

The incident happened during an intense heatwave in northern India, with temperatures in Delhi soaring to 46.8 degrees Celsius.
