Police are investigating 113 people for illegal horse betting activities. The group includes 103 men and 10 women, aged 47 to 90.
They were arrested following a series of raids across Singapore from April 27 to May 11.During the raids, officers seized over $60,000 in cash, mobile phones and horse betting equipment from locations in Tampines, Yishun and Jurong West.
The suspects are believed to have been involved as bookmakers, runners and punters.If convicted of gambling with an illegal service, individuals face fines up to $10,000, up to six months in jail or both.
Operators of illegal betting services can be fined up to $500,000 and jailed for up to seven years, while agents can face fines up to $200,000 and up to five years in jail.
The police urged the public to avoid illegal gambling, warning of strict enforcement against those involved.
